Casablanca – the white house, is considered the economic and business center of Morocco, although the national political capital is Rabat. Casablanca is considered the largest financial center in Africa and is the most populous city in the Maghreb region.
Casablanca is Morocco's chief port, with the Port of Casablanca being one of the largest artificial ports in the world. It is the most cosmopolitan and Western-feeling city in Morocco. Casablanca is home to the King Hassan II Mosque which is the second largest functioning mosque in Africa and is the 7th largest in the world. Its minaret is the world's second tallest minaret at 210 metres. The mosque rises above the Atlantic Ocean. The building is built partially on land and partially over the ocean.
